MICHAEL SILER bio

Michael Siler LAc, DOM is a Florida licensed practitioner of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.  He is nationally board certified with the designation “Dipl. Ac.” in Oriental Medicine through the NCCAOM.

The designation “Dipl. Ac. (NCCAOM)” is granted to licensed acupuncturists who have passed a series of examinations establishing national board certification.  NCCAOM is the National Certification Committee for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, the only organization which gives these examinations.  Only persons who have completed four years of training at an accredited school of acupuncture are permitted to sit for these exams.  The “Dipl. Ac.” designation represents “Diplomate in Acupuncture”, signifying that one has completed the in-depth training, has passed the rigorous examinations and continues to receive continuing education in the field; it is an assurance to the public of an acupuncturist having met the highest standards set for our profession.

Michael has a Bachelor in Social Work and worked in the mental health field as a case manager visiting adults suffering from mild to severe mental illness in the community. He also spent time working in the child welfare system as a case manager working to reunite parents with their children. During that time he also spent 10 years in the US Army Reserve with two tours overseas.

His time in social work showed him the problems with substance abuse and the consequences of addiction. The military has shown him that people often need to just get out of pain, to be able to become a part of the team in order to fulfill their desired responsibilities.  These experiences led him to find acupuncture and herbal medicine to be able to do more to assist his patients.

Michael trained under Dr. Shan Liang who has over 30 years of experience and trained and practiced in China before coming to the U.S to practice and teach several generations of acupuncture practitioners. Michael also interned Dr. Brian Lau a renowned Sports Acupuncture physician who is a primary instructor at the Sports Medicine Acupuncture Certification program.

Michael is proficient at pain relief and continues to focus on modalities that improve the patients’ quality of life.  His training enables him to treat the most common ailments and reduce symptoms of many difficult diseases.
